Is Your Diploma Worth the Cost?

Published by CarCoZo under Bachelor Degrees

People who are just now graduating from college are expressing some serious doubts about whether or not their diplomas were worth the cost of their education. This is due to the fact that the recession is making it difficult for new graduates to find lucrative jobs. These students are being forced to settle for jobs that they could have gotten without receiving a diploma. Many of them are doing customer service, retail and food service jobs. It frustrates them to have spent four or five years in college only to be doing this type of work.

This period of time may be frustrating but you have to remember that it won’t always be this way. The economy is eventually going to bounce back again. New jobs will be made available. Recent graduates will once again be able to find professional (and well-paying) work in the fields that they studied. So it may feel like your university diploma wasn’t worth the time and energy that it cost to get it but that’s really not the case. You just have to hang in there through the tough times in order to make use of the diploma in the future. When that day comes around, you’ll be glad that you got the diploma.

Responsibility

Published by Susan under Bachelor Degrees

cap-and-diplomaI know I am on my own.  My parents are not going to have my back.  I must determine a way to decrease college costs so when I graduate from high school this year I can afford college.

When the average person reads my above three sentences, they probably think that I am a screw-up and that my parents don’t want to waste their hard earned money on a child who will spend it all partying at the University of Texas.  The only part in that assumption that is true is I do want to be a Longhorn and go to school in Austin.  The rest of the assumptions are far from accurate.

I go to a large high school in Dallas.  In a graduating class of 457 students, I will graduate third in my class.  My SAT scores are impressive (if I do say so for myself) and I have received an academic scholarship.  The money from the scholarship however, will not be enough and what I had in mind for an expected family contribution doesn’t seem to be coming to fruition.

It seems I will need to work while in school.  I wish I could focus all my attention on studying and grades (with the occasional party) but I have to be able to afford tuition, room, and board.

Bachelor of Arts vs. Science Degrees in Today’s World

Published by CarCoZo under Bachelor Degrees

Although you can get a Bachelors Degree in a diverse range of different areas of study, there remain two distinct groups that these degrees are divided into. The first group is the Bachelor of Arts and the second group is the Bachelor of Science. However, in today’s world, these two things often blend together more than they used to.

For example, a look at the degrees available through Gibbs College in Vienna will reveal that there is a computer degree in the Bachelor of Arts program (graphic design) as well as one in the Bachelor of Science program (information technology). These degrees point to the reason that the two types of Bachelor programs have become so much alike; they’re both about technology.

Technology degrees have typically been considered a science. However, as the use of advanced technology becomes more commonplace, it has become necessary to adjust our thinking. A computer-based degree can now be considered more of an art than a science.
